Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope is an initiative of Casa Juana Colón that seeks to address the needs of secondary victims of gender-based violence: the daughters and sons of women survivors. We recognize that violence not only directly impacts women, but also leaves deep scars on the children and young people who live with these experiences.
The project is designed to offer them safe spaces for accompaniment, psychosocial support, and educational and recreational activities that contribute to their emotional, social, and academic well-being. Through workshops, group dynamics, and collective healing processes, resilience is fostered and their abilities to face the challenges arising from violence are strengthened.
Semillas de Esperanza also integrates prevention as a central focus, promoting healthy relationships, awareness of their rights, and tools for building violence-free environments among children and youth.
With this project, Casa Juana Colón reaffirms its commitment to breaking cycles of violence and sowing hope in new generations, accompanying families in processes of comprehensive transformation.

Project TERE
The Mitigation Project seeks to reduce the impact of natural disasters and crises on the most vulnerable communities in Comerío by promoting community resilience, food security, and access to mental health and social services. Through the Community Education and Mitigation Coordinator, the psychologist, and the case manager, the project integrates educational, psychosocial, and direct support services for the population. It relies on community censuses that identify the most urgent needs, allowing for the prioritization of aid and strengthening the local response to emergencies.
Among its main initiatives are:
Solidarity Kitchen: a space prepared to operate in emergencies and provide food to the community.
Emergency Pantry: a reserve of non-perishable food to serve more than 100 people after a disaster.
Distribution of Mitigation Items: delivery of solar lamps and fans, gas stoves, and other essential items.
Psychological Care: individual therapy for people affected by disasters, strengthening mental and emotional health.
Educational Workshops: activities on disaster preparedness, creating home gardens, food security, and self-care through the arts.
Through these actions, the project promotes community education, emotional strengthening, and collective autonomy to face emergencies and build safer and more prepared communities.

Seeds of Transformation
Seeds of Transformation is an initiative between Casa Juana Colón and the Comerío School of Fine Arts that seeks to work on the prevention of different types of violence. These include domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The project integrates the fine arts as a healing mechanism, psychological services, and workshops on access to justice. Participants will also have the opportunity to raise their voices by creating campaigns to prevent the aforementioned types of violence.
This project was supported by [15JOVW-23-GG- 01399-CY] awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice. "Redflagitos" Campaign
1st Violence Prevention Campaign
As part of the Seeds of Transformation project, participants at the Comerío School of Fine Arts created the “Redflagitos” campaign, focused on preventing dating violence. The initiative arose from their own reflections on the microaggressions that can be present in friendships or romantic relationships and that are often normalized.
Through art, they designed characters and scenes that identify these warning signs—the “red flags”—and transformed them into animated and paper illustrations. With creativity and language that resonates with young people, the campaign invites them to recognize these harmful behaviors early on and promote healthier and more respectful relationships.
